The Christmas TAG with heyitisjess | Christmas 2014

Hello!

I'm feeling super festive so today I've brought to you my second Christmas TAG- see last years here! Also this is actually a collab with the lovely Jess from Hey It Is Jess, so go and subscribe via bloglovin here!

1. What's your favourite Christmas film?
Most definitely the Polar Express! I remember going to see it in the cinema on Christmas Eve, ever since it just makes me really happy, reminds me of my childhood and makes it feel like Christmas. I'm sure you've seen it but if not, definitely give it a watch this Christmas!

2. What is your favourite Christmas drink?
I'm not a huge fan of the Christmas orientated flavours, I hate spices and ginger bread men are about the furthest my palette will go. So it'll be a very boring but much loved tea or hot chocolate if I'm feeling brave.

3. Does your family have any Christmas traditions?
I can't say we do. We do spend Christmas Eve relaxing and watching Christmas films all day but i'm sure a lot of people do that!  We also always spend boxing day doing the same thing which probably also includes pigging out and having cold meat and home made chips- yum!

4. What time do you usually wake up on Christmas morning?
Usually it'd be around 4-6ish because my elder brother is a big kid and wakes my younger brother up and then you can pretty much guarantee we'll all be awake by 6. Although last year I was good, I stayed in bed til at least 8:30, wahey a lie in!

5. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Not really, we've had left over snow on Christmas if that counts? Probably not!

6. Is your Christmas tree real or synthetic?
In all honesty we've never had a real pine tree for Christmas as my parents think they're too big and messy. So obviously it's synthetic!

7. What's your favourite Christmas song?
It'd probably have to be I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday- Wizzard. It just makes me really happy and puts me right in the festive mood! Also Olly Murs has covered it- ultimate babe! I love Merry Christmas Everybody- Slade as it came on in work recently and I had a little rave in my head, haha!

8. What is your favourite decoration colour combination?
Usually we'd opt for the reds and silvers but this year we're feeling adventurous and have purchased pinky/purple and teal baubles which I absolutely love!

9. Have you ever built a gingerbread house?
Yes I have indeed! I think we did it last year or the year before, it looked super pretty but nobody wanted to eat it as the gingerbread was quite strong in flavour and soft, yuck!

10. What is your favourite part of Christmas dinner?
Previously it would've been turkey as that is the only time we eat it but I've gone off meat! I'm not a vegetarian but I just don't enjoy meat with my dinner anymore. Though I do love pigs in blanket as again we only have them on our dinner at Christmas, so pigs in blankets definitely!

11. What is your Christmas day fashion?
Usually Christmas is one of the days we get dressed up, I've always struggled to pick a outfit of new clothes I've had earlier that morning. However in recent years it's all about the comfort seeing as we stay at home, this year I think I'll rock a Christmas jumper!

12. Do you open your presents before or after dinner?
We've always opened our stockings, had breakfast, opened the presents, got ready and then had dinner. Sometimes we may leave some presents until after dinner though!

Christmas is definitely my favourite time of the year and I love hearing what others get up to and their traditions so I tag EVERYONE to do this TAG! Let me know if you do so I can check yours out and I hope you've liked my take and collab with Jess.
Merry Christmas or if you don't celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays!
See you soon,

The 'Me Time' TAG | Pamper Night

Hello!
I was tagged by the lovely Nicole from Thrifty Vintage Fashion, here- to do the Me Time TAG! I haven't done a TAG in a while so I thought i'd get this one done today! Without further-ado here goes...

1. What do you watch or read during me time?
I've got to be honest as I've said before I don't enjoy reading which is a shame. But I do tend to spend a while watching my YouTube subscriptions, I love everything from beauty, fashion to homeware and lifestyle.

2. What do you wear when you are having me time?
Anything cosy, usually oversized t-shirts or jumpers and pyjama bottoms.

3. What are your me time products?
I don't enjoy baths which is annoying seeing as all the LUSH bath products appeal to me. But I do love having long showers using Soap and Glory's Scrub of your Life, Argan Oil hair masks and any face mask I have lying around.

4. Current favourite nail polish.
I've recently started painting my nails again so had a little nail polish shop. I love this dark red/purple colour from the Rimmel Lycra Pro range in Hypnotise especially now it's Autumn.

A tad messy, oops
5. What do you eat/drink?
I simply love a cup of tea and biscuits, or if i'm really feeling it hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows!

6. Favourite candle.
I love both Yankee Candle tarts in Pink Sands and Sunlight on Snow. I'm sure you've heard of Pink Sands which is a really sweet rose scent but isn't too overpowering and Sunlight on Snow is actually from the Simply Home collection which just smells really clean and fresh.

7. Do you ever have outdoor me time?
I wish I did, I'd love to just take myself somewhere near by and beautiful to just take my mind off things. I get quite anxious when it's dark though and just generally being alone so unfortunately I don't have that.

8. Would you ever go and see a movie by yourself?
I've contemplated it but probably not, I always feel sorry for the person I see on their tod in the cinema!

9. Favourite online shop.
I love both boohoo.com and ASOS, boohoo for the basics usually and ASOS is usually quite affordable and has a huge range.

10. What else do you do in your me time?
Following on from the last question, online shopping or just browsing and also catching up on blog posts that I haven't yet read on bloglovin, you can also find me here.

And that's the tag complete, I actually really enjoyed doing this TAG so thank you to Nicole for tagging me.
I tag:

IT'S ME NIAMH ALICE- here.
RACHEL COCO- here.
COLE OF THE BALL- here.

What TAG would you like to see me do next?

A Drugstore Primer | Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer

Hello!
Apologies for my absence recently, college, work and applying for uni have definitely got on top of me!
Today I thought i'd give a first impressions review on a primer I picked up recently when in Bath, at Morrisons of all places! I'd heard good things about this primer and as i'm not going for the fully matte look I opted for this, only £4.99 at Morrisons as they had an offer on all Rimmel products reduced to under £5!

This primer is completely colourless so you wont have to worry about it matching your skin tone which is always a bonus! It has a cream-like texture and is easy to apply all over the face after moisturiser and before makeup, although it states you can use it alone too.
While I can't vouch for the length of time this primer lasts as I haven't truly tested it yet for a full-days wear, but it definitely preps the skin ready for foundation by smoothing and as the packaging says 'resurfacing' the skin. The scent is light and non-offensive which I like when I have to apply a product all-over my face, though I mainly focus on my T-Zone as that's where my makeup tends to slide.

So far, so good! I love how smooth my skin feels before applying foundation and I believe its helping my makeup to sit in place for a lot longer, but as I said- I haven't properly tested it for its wear, so i'll update you at a later date! At only £4.99 you can't go wrong, and even better I've found it for £2.99 at Fragrance Direct, such a steal!

Do you use primer? Can you recommend any drugstore primers?
Comment below, i'd love to know!

That's all for now,

Empties | Quick Product Reviews

Hello!

After rounding up a few finished products, I thought i'd give you an empties post! There isn't too much here as I don't tend to use up products that quickly and I wouldn't want this post to be too lengthy or boring by including unnecessary products! Without further ado I'll start here..

Garnier Moisture Match in Shine Be Gone.
I love this moisturiser, it has got to be my favourite! It's a perfect texture for me and locks in the hydration for 24 hours and my skin feels feather-like- i'm not kidding! I don't necessarily think this leaves my skin mattified but I do not look like a grease-ball once used so I can't complain! I purchased the one with SPF in for protection over the warmer months and I could not wait to repurchase this again, although the SPF one wasn't bad.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.
Another Garnier product, I've discovered that my skin really gets on with Garnier so i'll definitely continue to try their products. This was no exception, I was so impressed with how well this dissolved my makeup and left my skin feeling clear of makeup and cleansed, although you can use this without washing the product off I still follow it up with a cleanser of which you'll see in this empties post. Overall, I can't fault it and it's very affordable!

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer.
Do I need to say anymore? A concealer that is constantly raved about and I can see why! This covers pretty much all of my blemishes and dark under eyes! This is perfect for blemishes and although it covers dark circles it does tend to crease a little after a long while. I'm yet to find the perfect concealer for under eyes though so this is doing the job for now and I'll repurchase again and again!

Soap and Glory Scub of your Life.
Before I had the full-size of this and then a mini, I didn't really use body scrubs- oops! But i'll definitely be repurchasing this as it made my skin so smooth ready for moisturising and it smells great! I've seen there is a scrub which is lime scented, I may have to give that one a go too!

Garnier PureActive Foam Wash.
I'm sure you've seen this mentioned here on my blog before but if not you can see a review here. This is a great wash for the morning as it has quite a strong scent so definitely wakes you up! I find this is great for when I have more blemishes as it gives such a deep cleanse and it seems to reduce the redness and get rid of them quicker. This is another product i'll be buying again!

Lush Tea Tree Toner Water. (For some reason the picture didn't transport, but it can be seen above or below)
After having a few more blemishes I decided to opt for this to not only refresh my face but as it contains Tea Tree will act as an anti-bacterial, keeping my skin refreshed and cleansed at the same time. I really enjoyed using this product, especially during the warmer months as you get a little sweaty, disgusting I know but it happens to us all! My only bug bare with this is that as it is natural it doesn't last a very long time so i'm glad I purchased the smaller bottle of this, although I think i'll repurchase this when I next pop into Lush!

That's all of my empties done and dusted! I love seeing empties post as it gives an insight of whether somebody actually enjoyed using the product and to see whether they'd actually repurchase it, so I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you'd like to see my next batch of empties and i'll be sure to save them up for a post!

Until next time,

Amy X

What to Expect | A Little Update

Hello!
Today I thought i'd give a little update on what to expect in terms of my blog the following couple of weeks.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last Wednesday I officially started college again for my second and final year. Already i'm feeling under a lot of pressure and in fact slightly overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to be completed  much earlier than i'd like. Of course I love blogging and have really enjoyed getting up more than one post every week over the summer but until I feel like i'm on top of the work I've got to do, blogging will have to take the back seat in my life.

I'll still be blogging as much as I can as it is a hobby, something I enjoy to do in my spare time but that will be when spare time is available. I aim to post at least once a week and may include a second post on Sundays telling a little of what I've got up to that week, if at all interesting! These have been called 'The Sunday Edit'  in the past so let me know if you'd like to see more.

As well as college work, i'll also be working my part-time job which I am in fact looking into a new one(of more hours, more convenient hours and something I will enjoy more), seriously thinking about what i'd like to do next year in terms of study, working or taking a gap year and similarly last but not least attending a few university open days, one of which is Norland College in Bath.

What are you doing this September, or what have you done?

Also lastly, what would you like to see here on my blog?

Thanks for reading and understanding,

Amy X

Superdrug Dead Sea Mud Mask | Thoughts and Review

Hello!
Today I thought i'd do a review on a product that I purchased 3-4 weeks ago, the Superdrug Detoxifying Dead Sea Mud Mask.

Superdrug Detoxifying Dead Sea Mud Mask.

I had quite a few break outs so was in need of something to really clean out my pores of impurities and hopefully help to get rid of the spots that I had and ones that were developing at the time. I'm sure you will know that Dead Sea Mud is very common in face masks and of course good for the skin, so I thought I'd give this one a go as it was only £2.59.

Yes, that is my abnormally blotchy hand- please excuse it.
After reading about this mask, it's suggests you use it 2-3 times a week, so that I did. The first time I used this I applied it quite thinly as I wasn't sure how my skin would react to it and left it on for the suggested 10-15 minutes. The mask dried quickly and I was shocked when I looked in the mirror, it sank straight into the blackheads on my nose and rather large pores- for me that felt like it was definitely working to clean out my pores. Once removing the mask with a warm face cloth my skin felt rid of any grubbiness and definitely felt cleansed.

Featuring the Muslin Cloth I used once with this mask and will not turn white again, lesson learnt- do not use a brand new Muslin Cloth with a clay mask...

I continued to use this for the following weeks or week I should say, for some reason the 3rd or 4th time I used it my skin had a reaction. I noticed that it was getting a little warm while using it, I thought this was normal as it tends to happen with a lot of face masks for me. I left it until it was dry and I was so shocked when I took it off. Where the face mask has been, my skin was bright red- a perfect line around my face.
Has anyone else experienced something similar when using the Superdrug face mask? I came to the conclusion that I must of had an allergic reaction to it, and in fact a lot of other face masks.

I wouldn't say this face mask is overall bad, it just didn't work for me. I'm sure if your skin isn't sensitive this will be great for you to clear you skin and rid it of impurities so it's definitely worth a try at less than £3 for quite a large tube.

Could anyone recommend a mask for sensitive skin? Something I never thought I had, so I'm not really in the know of gentle masks.

That's all for now, until next time..

Where I've Been | South Devon

Hello!
You may have worked out from my previous posts that I've been away and my last 2 posts were scheduled. Here i'm going to tell you a little of what I got up to, i'll try to be short and sweet but we know I like to babble. Last Saturday I set off to where I thought we were staying in Plymouth, but actually we stayed near in Dawlish which was absolutely lovely and I'm so glad we did.

The first day was spent in Dawlish itself where we had breakfast, then visited the small independent shops and walked the beach, it was lovely and so was the weather- I was in my element! Sun, shopping and being near the beach.
Comfy travel outfit, with the pebbles beneath my feet.

Selfie with my mother who indeed doesn't look too impressed and sporting my double or rather triple chin.
Cute little boats.

The sea, glistening.

On the Sunday we decided to visit the town called Torquay, it was gorgeous but looked like such an expensive place to stay or live! We spent the day shopping, of course I spotted the Primark! I picked up a couple of items that I'll show in a future haul i'm sure. Next we set off to play pitch and putt, and i'll hold my hand up and admit it, I am definitely not a budding golfer.

Clearly displaying I know not a thing about golf.

Monday was more of a animal packed day, it would be an understatement to say I was excited as we were to be visiting Plymouth, the place where i'm thinking about going to Uni. We went to the National Aquarium, apparently the best within the UK, so that's a reason to get pretty excited right? Then followed by walking around the harbor side town and treating ourselves to the ice cream van, a typical British thing right?

A pretty fancy backdrop for a photo right?

Of course, I had to take a photo of the Nemo's!

A rather 'hipster' looking ice lolly.

We next traveled to Dartmoor Zoo which we in fact have visited before, the Zoo was fantastic the first time we went as we hadn't seen the animals before but this time was rather short as we had seen it all before, I did however manage to see the bear this time which was hiding last time!

Next was another day of my family being typical tourist's in Exeter. I fell in love with Exeter town, it had such amazing independent sellers as well as larger more national stores. Again I found the Primark, and other stores that I already have in my town but I couldn't resist not having a browse! We were getting a little peckish and found the coolest, oh gosh I do not sound cool saying that. But we found a Cafe that appealed to me a lot, vintage! I believe it was called 'The Real McCoy' but I can't be for sure, it was a cafe combined vintage store. I found the sofa and the fashion book to accompany my milkshake!

Ideal short break, music, chocolate milkshake(probably the best I've had) and a fashion book that I may have to purchase myself!

Wednesday was purely for my mothers love, donkeys! We traveled a little further than we usually would to see a load of Donkeys, I have to admit I didn't mind at all! They were so lovely, I even came away with my own(not a real one, I wish!) but a teddy and an adopted one! My father gifted my mum with a donkey, how sweet! It was a Poitou Donkey, with large ears a shaggy coat who likes to be cuddled called Aramis, adorable.
Again we visited the beach, this was in Sidmouth and I found my favourite coloured beach huts!

I didn't take any photos on Thursday which i'm kind of gutted about as I loved this town so much too! Teignmouth! Teignmouth has amazing independent shops with such gorgeous furniture, every time I've been I've had to come away not purchasing any as it wouldn't fit in the car, weeping! Although I did get my palm read on an arcade machine which shoots cards out at random but I as always, I couldn't resist.

The last day was Friday as we traveled back on the Saturday, I have holiday blues even though I wasn't abroad but just love Dawlish so much! Spontaneously we went for a little drive, we found a nature reserve which I was not too impressed by, although we walked for about 10 minutes with me complaining as we were surrounded by fields and cows, I regret it. We came out to such a lovely canal and little pub, we had a drink and noticed there was a boat we could catch to another town, on we hopped and spent about an hour or 2 in Topsham, although there was very little there it was a beautiful area to spend the last day!

Orangina in the sun!

How very nautical for a boat ride.

The Exe Estuary boat trip to Topsham.

So there's the quickest round up possible for me to let you know where I've been and what I got up to, I loved Dawlish as always and definitely wouldn't hesitate to visit again although I do hope my next get away will be abroad!
Look out for my next posts that'll be back to school related, or rather back to college related as i'm going into my final year at college!

See you next time,

Amy X

Nominated for the Liebster Award!

Hello!
I've been nominated by the lovely writer of the blog 'Little Miss Wallflower' for the Liebster Award- thank you very much! As i've mentioned before i've been excited to get this done and up on my blog so here it is. Also be sure to check out the lovely Little Miss Wallflower here, where you can see the questions she answered for this award.
I've seen this blog award floating around a lot and am so pleased to be nominated for it, so lets get straight into it- with the questions I received from Little Miss Wallflower.

P.S.- I did not make this! I just found this under Liebster Award badge on Google Images- here.

1. What was your favourite post to write and was one of your most popular ones?
So far i'd say my favourite blog post I've written is my Christmas Wishlist(which was very early on my blog) as I love to lust over things and love Christmas, simple! My most popular blog post to date is my Christmas Haul, of course everybody loves a haul!

2. Apart from blogging, what are your hobbies?
Oh gosh, I always get stuck when i'm asked this *scratches head*, I'd say photography- I love instagramming and just taking photos in general as I love the memories that can be captured within a photo. I also enjoy shopping, catching up with friends and spending time with my family.

3. Would you want to be a Blogger for a living?
I definitely wouldn't say no! I'd of course give everything a shot but I doubt its possible for me to become a full-time blogger as there are so many big names out there at the moment, blogging is popular!

4. McDonalds or Starbucks?
I do like Starbucks, but I've only been a few times so, McDonalds.

5. Who are your favourite musicians and why?
Does Olly Murs count as a musician? He plays guitar and piano so, yeah. Olly Murs, McFly/McBusted, Twin Atlantic and I am really enjoying the 1975 at the moment.

6. Describe yourself in 1 word.
Ooh tricky, just 1? I'd say friendly, it doesn't hurt anyone to be kind, caring and well-mannered.

7. What's your favourite Disney film and any reason why?
I love Cinderella, a character who works super hard and then finally see's it's worth it. Good things come to those who wait, of course!

8. Do you read a lot? What are your favourite book(s) if so?
I wish I could say yes, but I've never been a keen reader, only of blogs.

9. If your house caught on fire, what 4 items would you save?
Providing my family are safe, i'd grab my photo album, my phone(as it holds a lot of photos), my bag(as it holds all my essentials) and lastly, i'm not quite sure- probably something sentimental of my Mothers like a card from her Nan before she passed away.

10. If you weren't human, what animal would you be?
Haha I like this question, I think i'd be a rabbit as they're my favourite animal- they're super cute and fluffy, independent in the wild but obviously are cared for domestically. They're just cute.

11. Where would you rather be; seaside, mountains or countryside?
Definitely the seaside, I love being near the seaside and usually those who live near are really friendly and just nice. I love the idea of being able to take a stroll on the beach in the evenings as it just seems so calming and relaxing!

The next part of this Award requires me to nominate 11 others, so here are my nominations! (I've taken the time to check through these blogs to ensure they each have under 200 followers(see rules below), if i'm wrong- sorry! However I still love your blog!)

My thoughts: Garnier

Hello!
Recently I've noticed a brand creeping in to my skincare routine and that of course is Garnier, as you can tell from the title of this post. I didn't really have an opinion on Garnier skincare as I had never really tried any of their products but my sister had bought the Moisture Match moisturiser in Shine Be Gone and I took a fancy to it, and I've gathered more products from there.

At the time I was experiencing super oily skin and I wasn't handling it well, I washed my face as much as I could and skipped moisturising as I thought it would make my skin more oily. Wrong! I can't even begin with how much I suffered by doing this, I had increasingly oily skin from cleansing as often as I could- simply as my skin was overworking to restore the oils I was taking from it. Also from not moisturising as often as I should I had a combination of oil and dry patches, not the best look! Anyway moving swiftly on..

Garnier Moisture Match- Superdrug thought it would be great to security wrap the right one- why?!
That's why its taped and ugly.
Shine Be Gone(left, yes I cut the tube to get the very last out(you'll see this in an empties post)
Protect and Glow(right)
I purchased the Garnier Moisture Match moisturiser in Shine Be Gone as I had tested it while my sister was using it. Needless to say it gave my skin the moisture it needed which lasts for 24 hours but also eliminated the amount of shine. I love this moisturiser and actually cut the tube in half to use the reminants until I went to purchase a new one. As the weather is getting warmer and the sun is actually out, I opted for the Protect and Glow version which has SPF 20 in to protect me from the rays! The consistency is a little different but the mosituriser is oil-free so it's perfect for my skin type! I'm not loving it as much as the Shine Be Gone version but I like it, I am going to repurchase my original when i'm next in Boots.
Garnier PureActive foaming facial wash
I've actually now ran out of this, so have a picture this facial wash featured in.
Another Garnier product I've loved using is a product you may of seen on my blog previously, is the PureActive foaming facial wash. I'm not going to go into depth on this product but I love using this when I need a deep cleanse and usually to wake me up in the morning. You can see more of my thoughts on this product here.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- (a trickle left in the bottom)
I just realised, this is the 4th product i'm going to talk about and the last. I suppose you could say this is not enough to say I love the brand but I do really like it and would like to try much more!
Last but not least is the Garnier(obviously) Micellar Cleansing Water, which I was so eager to try! I heard good things about the L'Oreal one although apparently it's harsh on the eyes, so I held back and Garnier brought out a very similar idea! I loved the thought of this being effectively like a makeup wipe but better for your skin, I was all up for that and I love it! After ditching the makeup wipes and using this I've noticed such an improvement in my skin, I've noticed less spots and healthier looking skin! I'm on the last dreads of the bottle and I can't wait to go and purchase another so i'm not without it! I'd definitely recommend as an alternative to makeup removing wipes!

Of course I'd recommend all these products if you feel like you're having similar problems to what I had, they're definitely worth a try as they're so affordable too(bonus!) I'm always having a look at Garnier products to see what new I can add to my 'collection'. I'd especially like to try the 5 Second Perfect Blur primer as I'm on the hunt for an affordable primer to conceal my pores that I like(or don't like more like) to call craters in my face. I'd love to know if any of you have tried it and what you thought. Also if you could recommend any Garnier products?

That's all for now, thank you for making it to the end of this post(if you did)..

Until next time,

Amy X

The Sunday Edit #5

Hello!
Here I am again, continuing with The Sunday Edit, like I said I would be! In all honesty I haven't been up to a lot this week, and this week I mean it I feel like I've done nothing so I wont be going through this Sunday Edit daily- just giving you a short low-down on what I've been doing and where I've been.

View image.png in slide show
Please excuse the use of language- haha! I couldn't believe how accurate this was so had to share it!

If i'm quite honest I cant even remember what I got up to at the beginning of the week, must of been super exciting eh? Usually i'd start the week of with doing some blogging but I haven't this week as I've been feeling really uninspired and just not really in the blogging mood, although I did manage to get a scheduled post up on what i'm doing to protect myself from the sun so please give that a look!
I think the reason for me not blogging is the fact I was feeling a little nervy and anxious as my exam results came back this week on Wednesday, thank the lord I passed with a C grade that averaged out to an A with my assignments, the highest I could of gotten- eek!
If you don't know already but i'm in such a knot with whether I want to go straight into work after my Childcare course and earn little or whether to improve my opportunities for work by going to uni. I was toying between visiting a few uni's over the summer to see how I feel after, but after seeing a program on Thursday, my decision was made! It was called 'Britain's Poshest Nannies' and they studied at a college called Norland in Bath, everything about the course appealed to me apart from the hefty cost which may hold me back- but needless to say I was sold, I ordered a prospectus soon after and booked a place at the Open Day in September, yay!

The weathers been pretty nice towards the end of the week, although I haven't been out in it as its been so warm- throughout the nights especially it has been so warm! I don't really have appropriate clothes for the weather at the moment and it was Pay Day on Friday so I started to order more summer appropriate clothes- a lovely kimono from MissPap.co.uk so i'm sure you'll see that very soon as I've made and will be making a few more orders!

Again my weekend has been finished off with lie ins and working evenings which is the typical weekend for me at the moment, until I change jobs hopefully soon!
That's all for now as I haven't been doing a hell of a lot like I mentioned, so until next time..

Protecting myself from the sun!

Hello!
So here in the UK we do not have the greatest of weather in the Summer, but throughout June there have been more than a few days where its actually been really warm and bright, I was aware that I had to protect myself from the sun but not as aware as I now am after seeing velvetgh0st's skin scan here. I was so shocked at what I saw and couldn't help me think about how bad my skin would look. I'm not one to go out and grill in the sun, I tend to pot about without sun cream as I didn't think I'd need it and usually end up with a burnt nose, not a good look.
Primark sunglasses and Garnier Moisture Match.
I knew I needed to do something about it, even if the damage done wasn't visible. So I did a little research into what I would need to keep protected even if I was just going to be staying in the UK all Summer as the sun can get pretty strong, especially between 11am and 3pm.

Garnier Moisture Match in Protect and Glow- here.
I decided what I needed to protect my face, a moisturiser with SPF in it. I think this is the place that tends to get left when protecting the rest of your body with sun cream, as you don't want that heavy layer of sun cream under your make up and most likely do not want to go out with out makeup to keep topping up your sun cream. I was unsure which moisturiser to purchase as I was really enjoying the one I was using that unfortunately didn't contain SPF, but I do know now a lot of moisturisers and even foundations contain SPF, so that's a good start!
The moisturiser I was using was the Garnier Moisture Match in Shine Be Gone, I noticed that the range had one to protect containing SPF 15 so I was sold as I loved the one I already had.
By being able to apply a moisturiser as part of my usual daily routine that had protection in it was great, as it meant I won't forget to apply sun protection and it isn't too far from what I am already doing.

Primark Sunglasses- £2
I knew I also needed to get a decent pair of sunglasses in my life, I had a pair that were a few years old that were scratched even though I didn't wear them as they were too far out of my comfort zone and they were probably not UV protecting. I heard that Primark were doing 100% UV protecting sunglasses with different grades of protection, this is perfect for me as it means they are affordable so I can try out a few pairs to see which style I like best. Here are the pair I picked pictured below, I actually really like them and have been wearing them quite often since and best of all they were only priced at £2- bargain! I'm definitely going to go back and try a few more pairs.

As I mentioned previously, I learnt the sun is at it's strongest between 11am-3pm so it's best to try and stay out of it and in the shade at this time. As I said i'm not one for grilling in the sun as I really don't enjoy it as I get bored and have experienced a little bit of sun stroke before and it made me feel so rubbish, which is not what I want during the summer. This has made me realise that if I do actually want to go out between those times I need to wear sun cream and cover up to protect my skin, also that I should opt towards sitting in the shade more often. I will definitely keep this in mind and stay true to my word when the warmer days arise again this summer!

Now i'm obviously not an expert, this is just what I have learnt myself and I thought i'd share it with you guys. I'm not telling you what you should and shouldn't do but I'm just hoping it will make others more aware and have a think, until next time..

The Sunday Edit #4

Hello!
So i'm back after a little break from blogging, this is my first post of the week whereas I would usually have posted 1 or 2 before this- but if I'm honest this week I haven't really been feeling like blogging, I've felt a little stressed and just not with it. But I'm trying to keep the Sunday Edit going, so here I am updating you on the week I've had, if i'm honest I haven't done a whole lot!

This week started with me having a motive, where has that been for the past 3 weeks I've had off college?!
As you may of seen on my Summer Wishlist is that one thing i'd like to accomplish this summer is to stop procrastinating and do the work I've been set to do over summer, that I did! I woke up early and got the work out of the way within an hour, so pleased! I then had nothing planned for the rest of the day so I thought I'd better make it productive so, I cleaned my room, cleaned downstairs and got the washing done as my mum hasn't been home all week- I felt like a proper housewife, haha!
My makeup brushes were also awaiting a clean after a short while so that's what I got done, while watching the Little Mermaid which I haven't done since I was about 7, and I loved every minute of it!

Tuesday- In all honesty I actually can't remember what I got up to on Tuesday, I think this was the day I wasn't feeling to great as I felt exhausted so I tried to sleep throughout the day and lets just say it didn't happen! I was supposed to be meeting my older sister to go food shopping as my mum hasn't been home all week like I said, that didn't happen. Pizza happened instead, oops! Just after I started working out too, yes that's right- i'm using the app PumpUp if you're wondering!

Again I didn't get up to much on Wednesday, I was supposed to go food shopping with my sister for the week but again it didn't happen. I had work, which was strange as I hadn't worked a Wednesday night before but I'm sure you don't want to know about that so!

Thursday is a little more exciting for you, this was the day of strikes so my sister was off work which meant I could actually do something. We were hoping for a lie-in but woke up super early, so we went for an early morning shop and I'm on a spending ban so it wasn't too fun for me, but even still window-shopping was enough to fulfill my need. I went into Primark to exchange my T-Bar shoes in nude for a smaller size, they didn't have them so instead I saved myself £12 which i'm not over the moon with as I really wanted them shoes! The weather was pretty good on Thursday, of course I wasn't appropriately dressed so I was boiling so we came home as I was starting to feel a tad ill. If you don't already know my sister is moving out very soon so I helped her to clear out, of course obtaining a few new items!
She said I could go and view the new house she's moving into with a couple of friends so that's what we did, I am so pleased for hear and very jealous too!

99p each- B&M Bargains

We finally went shopping, although there was only 2 days left we'd have to cook. I picked up some really cute pots in the perfect colours to match my room, which you can see here. We also decided to cook pasta bolognese which was honestly amazing!

Again like every weekend I am working, Friday and Saturday but this week Sunday evening too because of the world cup! I'm not even a huge fan of football but I'm not looking forward to missing the final as my brothers have a bet on, I'm not even sure who they've bet to win but they've done so well up to here!
I also received an order this weekend that I purchased with my FeaturePoints rewards, I got a Toni&Guy curling wand which I will be doing a blog post on very soon! And that's pretty much been my week! So that's all for now, i'll be back with another blog post very soon this week!

Until next time,
